FOUNDER OF ELY BASS · 3D SCANNING SPECIALIST
Over 10 years executing and coordinating construction works — an experience that taught him first hand, on site, how expensive wrong measurements, incomplete surveys and documentation based on approximations really are.
In 2020 he closed that chapter and founded ELY BASS, investing in the first 3D scanning equipment for virtual tours aimed at marketing. A year later, a collaboration with an architecture office changed the direction of the company: the same data could solve far harder problems — as-built surveys, a point cloud compatible with design software, a BIM model.
Since then, every investment has followed the same principle: technology only has value when it solves a real problem. The data is delivered so that the client's team can use it immediately — not a deliverable that looks impressive but is impossible to use in design.

Six years of investment, year after year
Every stage added a new capability — not for the sake of technology, but because a real project called for it.
2020
The company is founded and the first 3D scanner
After more than 10 years in construction, Bogdan Sandu founds ELY BASS and invests in the first 3D scanning equipment. The beginning: virtual tours for marketing spaces — showrooms, clinics, accommodation units and tourist locations.
2021
The first project for architecture
A collaboration with an architecture office changes the direction of the company: alongside the virtual tour, in which the whole team could visit the building from the office, we deliver the point cloud compatible with their design software and the as-built survey of the building. The technology moves from marketing to technical documentation.
2022
The first professional drone and photogrammetry
We produce the georeferenced orthophoto of a commune covering 850 hectares, for the green space register. In parallel, we add exterior 3D models and point clouds obtained through photogrammetry — the building is now covered from the foundation to the roof.
2023
Professional LiDAR scanner and the first award
The second scanning device, with a LiDAR sensor, allows documentation inside and outside, on much larger projects and with superior accuracy. The first international recognition arrives too: Digital Twin Awards — Historical preservation category, for the Turkish Bath in Iași.
2024
A digitization project and the second award
We apply for and win a digitization project for the acquisition of new-generation professional equipment. The same year, the Digital Twin Awards name us winners for the best virtual tour — St. Nicholas Parish, Bacău.
2025
Complete infrastructure, thermography and the third award
We complete the acquisition of the entire equipment set from the project and introduce thermography services — both from the drone and with a professional handheld camera. The third Digital Twin Award, Education category, for the IEEIA Faculty in Iași.
2026 · Today
A complete workflow, from the site to the deliverable
Over 120,000 m² digitized, three international awards and an integrated workflow that covers the whole route: scanning, processing, BIM modelling and delivery — for industry, heritage, education, public administration and real estate development, all over the country.

In construction, the most expensive mistakes are not the ones you see on site — they are born earlier, in an approximated dimension, an old drawing that no longer matches reality, or a measurement taken in a hurry. We believe every building deserves to be documented exactly as it is, once and for good.
That is why we don't just deliver files, but a digital base you can build on: precise, verifiable and ready to use in the software you already work with. From it you extract whatever you need — today an as-built survey, in a year a section, in five years the base of a refurbishment — without repeating the work from scratch.
